Mission & Beliefs
Our mission as a local church is to glorify God by helping people become wholehearted followers of Jesus.
What we believe
God made everything and everyone. He rules the universe and made us in His image. He is perfect and made us to know and serve Him.
The curse of sin entered the world through human disobedience, and we were eternally destined for God’s wrath.
Two thousand years ago, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to earth. He lived a perfect and sinless life and was crucified in our place, taking on Himself the judgment we deserved. Three days after his deat,h He rose from the dead, proving that He truly is the Son of God.
When we repent of our sin and accept the payment that he made on the cross for us, we receive the Holy Spirit and the security of eternal life with Him.
This is the gospel: the good news about Jesus Christ.
-
We believe that the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God, true, without error, authoritative and sufficient for all matters of life and conduct (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:21).
-
We believe there is only one true God (Deut. 6:4), Creator of Heaven and Earth (Gen. 1:1), who eternally exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matt. 28:19; Luke 3:22); and that each member of the Godhead is of the same essence, co-equal in deity, power, and glory (John 10:30; 2 Cor. 13:14; Heb. 1:3).
-
God the Father is the sovereign creator, ruler and sustainer of the universe (Ps.135:5-6). He is first among the eternal three, being the head and sender of His Son, and co-sender of the Spirit (1 Cor.11:3; John 14:16, 26). He is Father to those who become His children through faith in Jesus Christ (John 1:12; 1 John 3:1).
-
Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God (Rom. 1:3-4; Heb. 1:8), was born of a virgin (Matt. 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-38), lived a sinless life (Heb. 4:15) and is both fully God (John 1:1, 14) and fully man (1 Tim. 2:5). He suffered, died, was buried, resurrected, ascended and now sits at the right hand of the Father until He returns for the final judgement and consummation of the kingdom.
-
The Holy Spirit is the eternal Spirit of God (Heb. 9:14; Eph. 4:30). He has been sent by the Father and Son to regenerate, indwell, guide, teach, comfort, gift, empower, and bear His fruit in every believer (John 16:13; 1 Cor. 12:4, 11; Acts 1:8; Gal. 5:22-23). He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgement (John 16:7-11).
-
We believe all human beings, male and female, are made in the image of God (Gen. 1:26-27). However, due to the fall of humanity, all are sinful in nature and action (Rom. 5:12), which mars but does not destroy the original image of God in them (Gen. 9:6; James 3:9).
-
We believe that sin is rebellion and disobedience against God (Rom. 5:19; 1 John 3:4), and that all people are sinners who fall short of His glory (Rom. 3:23). The deserved penalty for sin is physical and spiritual death (Gen. 2:17; Rom. 6:23) and final eternal separation from God in Hell (Rev. 20:11-15).
-
We believe that Jesus Christ lived a sinless life (2 Cor. 5:21; 1 Pet. 1:19), died as the sacrificial substitute to pay the penalty for sin (1 Pet. 3:18), was buried, and physically rose from the dead (1 Cor. 15:1-8), defeating sin, death and the devil (1 Cor. 15:56-57; Heb. 2:14-15).
-
We believe that saving faith is trusting in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, believing in His death and resurrection for the forgiveness of sins (John 3:16; Rom. 10:9). Through this faith, individuals are justified, reconciled to God, and receive eternal life (Rom. 5:1; John 5:24). Genuine saving faith involves repentance and leads to a transformed life of obedience (Acts 20:21; 2 Cor. 5:17).
-
We believe that Christians still struggle with sin, being part of this fallen world, but are declared at salvation to be new creations, righteous before God (2 Cor 5:17, 21). They then become more and more like Jesus – in thought, action, and relationships (Rom. 6:1-14; 1 Pet. 1:15-16) as they respond in obedience to God’s Word (Acts 20:32; Col. 3:16; 1 Pet. 1:22), walk by the Spirit (Gal. 5:16-25), and participate in their local church (Eph. 4:15-16; 1 Thess. 5:11; Heb. 10:24-25). Although never achieving perfection in this life, Christians are to pursue spiritual growth, realising in practice what God has provided in position (Rom. 6:1-14; 1 Thess. 4:1-8).
-
We believe that the Church is not a human invention but was ordained by God through Jesus Christ (Matt. 16:18; Eph. 3:10-11) and is composed of all those who are united to Jesus Christ through saving faith and are His body (1 Cor. 12:12-13; Eph. 1:22-23). We believe that the local church is a visible gathering of professing Christians who commit themselves to one another to fulfil God’s purposes under biblically qualified, God-ordained leadership (1 Tim. 3:1-13; Tit. 1:5-9). The local church practices the ordinances of baptism (Matt. 28:19-20) and the Lord’s Supper (1 Cor. 11:23-26) in obedience to Christ.
-
We believe that marriage, as ordained and defined by God in Scripture, is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman to the exclusion of all others, and thus we do not recognise any other union as marriage (Gen. 2:23-25; Heb. 13:4).
-
We believe God created personal, spiritual beings, some of whom rebelled against Him under the leadership of Satan and wage war against God (Eph. 6:11-12; 2 Cor. 10:3-5; 1 Pet. 5:8). The remaining angels continue to obey God and minister to believers (Heb. 1:7, 14). We believe that Satan was defeated, though not yet destroyed at the cross, and that he will ultimately be cast into the Lake of Fire (Col. 2:15; Rev. 12:7-9; Rev. 20:10).
-
We believe that Jesus Christ ascended into Heaven (Luke 24:50-53; Acts 1:9) and will one day return physically to the earth to judge the living and the dead (1Cor. 15:2-23) and to reign as King of kings and Lord of lords (Rev. 19:11-21; 20:4-6).
